A client of mine is looking for a special mouse for her son (she's having me build him a gaming PC). What we're looking for is a full-size wireless optical mouse (not a mini "laptop" mouse), but she wants it to "glow". Now, I know that optical mice kind of glow anyway, but we're looking for some serious glow-age, so I guess the mouse would have to be at least slightly translucent with extra LEDs in it or something. I'm not 100% clear on exactly what she's looking for, but if I could provide her with 2 or 3 links with pictures, that would be cool. I'm still looking around myself (as is a co-worker), but so far we haven't found much.... THANKS!!!

Thx! How did I overlook (or not even find) Razer? I've known about their products for a couple years and somehow they slipped thru numerous Google searches, and (not so surprisingly) slipped thru my swiss-cheese-like memory (it stinks and it's full of holes). However, the price on those Razer mice is HIGH!! Some are over $125!! YIKES!! If anyone has any links to something similar but maybe with a bit less bling and much less ka-ching, please post!

Is your client aware that there is always a slight bit of lag on wireless connections, and that serious gamers use wired mice specifically to avoid that, and any possible interference? :innocent

Something to bring up, perhaps, if she's not... style and bling are all well and good, but substance and performance are vital. ;)

She is now! LOL Actually, I did mention that wireless keyboards & mouses (mice?) aren't very reliable (in my experience) and they eat batteries like Doug Flutie eats Wheaties, so she went with a wired gaming keyboard... I haven't showed her the pricing on the high-end wireless gaming mice yet, and I think when she sees those prices combined with the cost of battery replacement every 4-6 weeks (if you're lucky), or having to buy higher priced rechargeable batteries and a charger, I think she'll go with a mouse that's wired and MUCH less blingey.

I totally agree, and personally put style and bling way, WAY, WAAAY behind performance and substance.... To me, it's ALL about performance; I don't care how ugly it is, if it rocks, IT ROCKS!

(you can actually apply this same thinking to cars, guns, stereos, and a lot of other stuff too ;) )

I like the Logitech MX518. Very reasonable price tag, and for the amount of money, it's high quality. :)

The mx518 is a very sexy mouse, and very common to gamers. I love mine!
