Looking For App

Need a way to change name of file being downloaded.
This site is great for naming files, it is other sites that need lots of help
Hope this is not in wrong forum.
Been watching this site for years.
I think it is the best for wannabe techs like my self

Which file is it that you want to rename? Is it a file you created? You need to use care when you rename a file. It could cause issues on your pc. If you still want to proceed, after the file is downloaded, Right-Click on the Windows button, go to File Explorer, locate the file that you want to rename, Right click on the file name, select rename, type in the new name and press Enter. As long as you typed in a valid name , it should be ok from there. Hope this helps.

 

If you just click Save the file will be downloaded to your default folder with the name it already has. If you click Save As you will be asked where you want the file saved and what name you want to give it. This varies a little from one browser to another but most browsers give you this option.

 

Right, depending on the browser & the link, you can right click the link and select save as A direct link will come up with a save as dialogue with the exe, msi, zip. If it comes up as a HTML or something else it is not likely a direct link.

In Firefox I use Download Status Bar and use rename.
