Looking for calendar software

I am looking for a program that reminds you of upcoming events like birthdays, anniversarys, etc. I need something that will pop up on my screen not just send an email. Also it needs to be able to work without restarting my computer everyday. I almost never restart. Does anyone know of such a beast?

not quite right

I looked at Rainlendar and I do not think it is quite right. I need something that can remind me say, a week before an event and everyday until the event until the event date actually passes. Thank you adrynalyne.
Any other ideas???

 

if you have MS Outlook installed (assuming we're talking about windows) it has calendar options that you're looking for.
