I have a DELL Inspiron 1545. I Loaded honestech VHS to DVD 3.0 Deluxe onto my new computer running Windows Vista (64 bit) service packs updated then attached the VIDBOX NW20 – the factory spec driver and the updated driver won’t work. I searched for a new driver on the homepage for Honestech, a general search on the Internet as well as consulted someone at the store. Both the store clerk and the homepage said I could not run this hardware on a 64bit.

Does anyone have a workaround driver that I can install? Or some advice other then your S out of luck go get different hardware or wait till October and upgrade your computer.

If the clerk and web site both say it's not 64bit compatible, then it's not 64bit compatible. No driver or workaround is going to do anything. If there was a driver or workaround for 64bit, they'd have it at the maker's web site. Hopefully you can return the product... not to rub salt in your wounds, but this is why it really pays to know what type of software you're running on your PC, and what the specs are with any software and/or hardware you may purchase. Waiting until October isn't going to make a difference. Windows 7 isn't going to magically fix anything unless the manufacturer of the device releases Windows 7 drivers and software that are 64bit compatible.
    :( Sorry, not good news.

    Hi

I know this is an old thread and question, but if the software was designed for XP to start with or an older version of Windows, then if designed for XP then it should work, if not designed for XP or above then its not going to work, unless you run compatibility settings to see if that may help, right click the installer and choose Properties > Compatibility tab and choose XP SP3 as the option then apply. It may work or may not, a bit of a trial and error thing.

I'd imagine you may have upgraded this PC by now or found a new software application to do what you need in the 3yrs it took to come back to this question?
