looking for freeware

im looking for a program that deals with my task manager that tells me with i can safely disable another program because i have only 251mb of ram and i got a lot of running task's using a lot of memory and all im doing at most time is surfing the net and ill open my task manager and it says im using 100% cpu and i downloaded everest and it says i have about 18mb free ram left all from surfing the net i know that cant be it...thanks.

 

or a site maby? that cany tell me what that task is doing and/or if its safe to disable cuz my computer is constantly running at 100% cpu and has for about 2 hours now... i realy need some help thanks if you are needing to now ne thing from me ill be glad to give you the info

 

If it's just been churning for a couple of hours, I'd say you were infected. Try Process Explorerl, that will give you an idea of which parent is using all your cycles.

 

If you have a newer system, 256mb of ram isn't much. You need more ram. But sounds like you may have some malware running, or it maybe a program is hogging up system resorces. Below is a suggestion by Major Attitude to another member with very similar problem as yours.

Something can be removed to speed up your machine and free resources. Unless you use these every time your pc runs, you'd be better off without them:

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Synchronizer.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AdobeCollabSync.exe

i was able to do this threw a run thing a friend told me is this info ne good?

FireFox is using way to much CPU I think augiedoggie may be on to something.
