looking for friendly gaming communities

Hey guys, Drexel has been playing Team Fortress 2, but has been really discouraged by how mean people are. He played Minecraft for a long time & had a pretty nice server that changed hands & now isn't quite as friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions of multiplayer games & servers where the moderators make sure people aren't being abusive?

 

You could try the MMPORG, Runescape (http://www.runescape.com/community). It has moderators and a means to censor chat and report abusive players. It is free to try for limited capability and doesn't require any client install (there is one if needed), i.e., works off a browser.

 

Thanks Max, I just sent him the link. We're willing to buy a full version of a game if he likes it and it's a nice community. Because of his autism, it's tough for him to socialize with other kids. He's got a small group of friends IRL who seek him out, but he gets overwhelmed by them sometimes and prefers to be by himself or socialize online. As you can imagine, that can get problematic. He's a gentle kid. After a lot of school shuffling (trying to find a school with a small classroom program for very high-functioning autistic kids), we finally pulled him out completely because it was just too tough on him to be around kids being mean to each other. Unfortunately, much of the internet is a lot like a Jr High classroom.

 

Vanilla Minecraft? Or modded? There are family friendly servers on both, though you have to look different places for them.
