Hi my name is mairead, I have checked into this site for years to pick up tips and tools. Now I seem to be having a problem not even my computer tech husband can find an answer to. I have a problem with my computer abitrarily shutting down. It doesn't seem to be the hard drive, it sounds normal. The funs are running. We have wiped the comupter numerious times and still keep coming back the same problem. Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions that might help. I have to wait to tax time to get a new computer and this is just driving me nuts.

I would look at two things. The Power supply and the CPU's cooling. Either can cause a random shutdown.

Is the fan on the CPU heatsink spinning? What Power Supply do you have on the computer?
