Looking for image previewer

I'm looking for a program that will allow me to preview images and other files (for instance, attachments to my email program) without changing the program settings I currently use to work with images (Adobe Photoshop Elements) - in other words, to see the contents of a file without opening it. I used to know of such a program, but I've forgotten the name of it, except that it started with a "C", which after a month's free trial period needed a subscription that at that time (circa 1996) cost around $100. I'm at a loss to remember the name of it. Also, if someone knows of a free program that does the same thing as the one I'm searching for, that would also be much appreciated.

Is the folder your pictures are in set to 'Thumbnail View' ?
I can see every pic I have without even clicking it....I'm XP

Yes, I have XP. But the email program I'm using is Eudora Light, and email attachments are just one example of the images I'd like to sample.

 

Sorry...I don't know of a way to view an attachment without opening it.

 

Oh, I just saw what you meant, Toni. Thanks a bunch for your tip. I've always had my folders set to "Details". Now I know a whole new toy to play with! Thanks again.
