Looking for new byrning software

Been having some issues with my current burning software (it does not want to recognize multisession disc's anymore), I could just uninstall and reinstall to see if that helps but I would like to update to something newer (I think ?), had been using Nero 7 Essentials, it came with the burner.

I tried Burnaware - it came loaded with CRAP - uninstalled it.

I do not do a lot of burning, mostly backups for data and pictures, that is why I want something that allows for "multisession recording", both CD's and DVD's.

Any opinions on Ashampoo products, read some good reviews but they do not clearly state that it can do "multisession", interested in the "free" version, it has a small foot print and not a lot of fancy extras I will never use.

It is offered here on MG's, if anybody is using it, maybe you could let me know about the "multisession" issue.

I'll second the mekanic's suggestion of ImgBurn, but be very careful during the installation.

"Limitations:
This program is advertising supported and may offer to install third party programs that are not required for the program to run. These may include a toolbar, changing your homepage, default search engine or other third party programs. Please watch the installation carefully to opt out."

There have been forum threads in various places that even opting out the adware installs anyway, likely due to the way you have to check/uncheck during the install process. And do not choose the express install, from what I've also read that's when the adware gets installed.

Never had that problem Solaris, just read the directions and opted out. And, I would have sworn I burned a multisession CD-ROM with the latest version. I'll have to double check now.

If it has evolved to that, keep your eye on the programs and RevoUnintaller on hand not just for this, but that it's just good to have it.

People can get pretty creative, and/or desperate when trying to make a buck.

What OS are you running? XP, Vista, and 7 natively will burn multisession discs.
