Hi folk', I'm a disabled want to be poet who needs a half decent word processor and don't have the funds to give to a capitalist fat-cat in a shop for one. I've tried the open-office suite but really don't get on with it at all, I've also tried the Abi-word package but it doesn't function well enough as a stand-alone processor, my writing takes up a lot of my time and having to use a web-dedicated processor isn't the best option for me.
I'm kind of hoping to find an 'ideal-price!' (yep, a freebie) version of Wordperfect or microsoft works.
If anyone can lead me in the right direction I'd be extremely grateful.
Peace be with you all, best wishes,
    Fleeing Fox.

    Hi,

They don't really do freebies of those two programs if they are want you want, and we don't allow pirated software.

I understand where you're coming from, Office is ridiculously overpriced, and most people wouldn't use 95% of it's functions. (Micro$$oft makes over 90% of it's money, not from Windows, but office!)

For free, Jarte, Gnome Office and K Office are all free I think.

If you don't require advanced features, Wordpad allows basic work.

That's not what I meant. I just found it "conincidental" that you and Star were both posting at the same time, considering the post in the lounge. ;)

    The links are great though.

I am astonished by these marvelous responses, I am incredibly grateful, thank you all for your wonderful help.
Worry not folk, I'm not advocating pirate software myself, I was curious to know if the older versions of them were available. Like Norton, they have an archive where you can download older programming software for free, that was all I was hoping for.
Yet here am I with 'actual' software links to check out, that's marvelous, I cannot thank you guys enough.
