    Hi MG and all members,
I have been told that there is software that will monitor and record all changes made to your system when you install new or re-install old software. I was told that it records all of the files associated with it, the files it associates with and it will also tell which registry keys are changed when it is installed. Am I dreaming or is this real.
I would dearly love to have a program like this, so I would not have to hunt for all of the files when I decide to uninstall the software. As we all know installing software is akin to a shotgun blast at your system. As it seems to scatter everywhere with no discernable pattern, not to mention that there are not very many uninstall programs that truly remove all of the files and correct the registry keys during an uninstall.
If someone knows of a program like this and has personal knowledge of it would you please let me know. Or is it another urban legend?
Thanks for your time, best wishes to all.

    Total Uninstall http://www.martau.com/
I know I've tried this one. I'll have to do some searching and see which of the programs I tried was the most useful, IMO.

I checked and that's the one I use. It used to be free. I have three very old free versions archived.
    If you go here
    Code:

You can download the last free version to see if you like it.
As always, scan the file you download to be sure it is clean before you install it.

    Hi plodr,
Thanks for the response. Actually, I tried to purchase this online and I believe that it comes from Romainia, which is all fine and good. My problem with it was that I received a follow up email stating that they wanting my Bank account number, my bank's routing number, my SSN and a couple of other (I'm an idiot and deserve what I get if I give this info out) numbers that I didn't understand why they needed so much info. Why not just ask me to send all of my funds over in neatly counted bundles. Needless to say I put the quick stop on it and call my CC company.
That's another thing, it was a CC that I only use for internet purchases, just for the simple fact that I don't really want to be scammed and have my money taken. I piss it away fast enough without anyone's help. I don't understand why they don't have a US clearinghouse handle it or use Paypal or something like that. So unless you know of a stateside place to get it then I will have to go another route. But I have heard that this is the one program to have, it was even recommended by sysinternals, whom I use to trust as much as the geeks but since they went to MS, I'll have to wait and see how much they are affected by the MS heirarchy. It sometimes changes when you go from being the boss to the the worker bee. But I digress.
    Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to download the free version? An old version may be better than no version.
I'm with you. There is no way I'm giving bank information and social security info out!

    Hi Plodr,
Yeah, I'm looking for an older version to download but to date all of the links have been broken. I wish I could find someone local that had a copy, but that's another issue.
I know what you mean about giving out the info, I couldn't believe that they had the scrotal fortitude to even ask that. I mean I was born at night, just not last night.
    Thanks again,
    cal

As always, scan after you download and before you install it to be sure it is free of malware.
cal, send me a PM so I can reply to you. You have PMs turned off.
