Looking to buy External HDD and looking for advice on brand...

    I'm looking to buy a external HDD so I can back up my 2TB and 500GB drives something in the $120-$130 range as that's all my budget will afford me. And I was wondering what are some good brands of HDD for external HDDs.

    You may want to look at what NewEgg has to offer although you may end up paying a bit more for the 2 TB capacity.

    I just did that and bought an external case for $26 and went to a computer store and got a used HHD (250gig) for $40. (And it was an Hitachi -- which is what is in my laptop already).

    What brands are good for external HDDs. I can possibly go up to 200. I'll just get it next month when the rest of the money becomes available. HGST is a subsidary of western digital?
