LOOOOOONG blank space in add/remove

Running WinXP Home SP2 and there's a HUGE blank section in the Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel. I have maybe 5 or 6 programs listed, then the blank space and then the rest of the programs. There was some minor (easy to clean) malware, which is now gone, but still the big blank space. I remember reading a post about this awhile ago, but a search gave me no info..... HELP! How do I get rid of this 'dead' space?!?!?!?

What was the last program installed, before this happened? I found out through remembering that one of the CD's that I had to install for a course, caused this with mine. Once uninstalled, the WhiteSpace went away. Also, AutoCAD is known to cause this behavior.

 

The gap is caused by a badly formatted "DisplayedIcon" entry in the uninstall area of the registry or a bad icon file.

The last program installed was something called AnswerWorks (I think-it's not my PC and I didn't check the dates). Kniht- thanx for the link! I'll try it out and let you know if it works.....

OK- I downloaded the 'fix-it' file from the link above and it doesn't run on the PC in question: I get the following error message "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application." I tried it on a different PC and it runs OK.... the PC also has AutoCAD installed as mentioned above by Brownizs..... any other help?? Uninstalling AutoCAD isn't really an option.... the PC isn't mine so I can't really start removing software.....
