I keep loosing programs, nothing big, I'll download email stripper or a start up (forgot the name of that one), photo resizer. They all disappear in a few days. Am I discarding them with the disk cleanup?
When I check in programs there is only an icon that doesn't do anything.
Plus I need wizards, don't care how stupid Mac thinks it is.

Say what? Did you just forget where you put them (LOL)?
You diwnloaded, did the install and later they just aren't there?
No folders on the c drive?
Target for the icons (only thing left of the install?) don't point to the exe. in the folder?

    HI!
Computer Specs, OS and all that is needed.
Can you be more specific regarding these 'lost' programs?
It sure would speed up the HELP process!

Actually I let them go where they wanted.
Hit run and they worked fine for a bit.
Yes there were folders in C but empty except for a useless icon.
    Have windows xp.

Well, lets see. I'm sure I did a disk cleanup, try to do that often. Might have deleted files from internet options, thats it I believe.

By the way, these were all things suggested through the joke forum, is this a joke?
    Kidding, I'm sure it's me.

Walk me through the whole process ....you download a program (?) ...save to desktop (?) ...double click the setup file .....install to c:program files (yes) ....icon goes on desktop ...program runs from desktop icon for two days then no longer works cause the program folder is empty?
    What are the programs?

Thats pretty much it but I have a wizard! LOL I click download, then run and the wizard puts it where it belongs, I'm guessing. I try not to have too many icons on my desk top but check that they are in the file. Which they were.
The programs were - email stripper, photo resizer and I forgot which one it was, using Picasa now, and the other was one that eliminated certain files from start up, had sooo many running and couldn't tell what they all were. I'm sorry I started this I'm sounding really stupid.

Would suspect that the program you used to kill start up actually killed the progams ...(might also suggest you kill the wizard ....)

The startup program is also one missing and how do I (kill) the wizard?

Darlene ...I have no idea what the wizard is ....is it something you downloaded?
Windows doesn't have a "program install wizard" .....
Have you done a search for files and folders for the missing stuff?

Windows has NO download wizard??? What have I been using then? Nothing I downloaded. Kinda searched, reloaded a couple, the mail stripper and Picasa. Okay then, thanks for your help. Going to go look for something to download and see just exactly what it is I'm using, scary! Thanks again.

Most programs will have an install setup that walks you through the setup ...choices to where to put the program , if you want desktop icons, full or partial setup, etc.
