WHY will my laptop get bumped off the internet ("little or no connectivity") while my husband's (newer) laptop will not? i can fix the problem by unplugging and replugging the router, but why does this keep happening to me? and can it be fixed in a better way?

Depends on the wireless technology... and what is between you and the wireless router or your access point.

Some wireless technology, the newer 'n', can go through walls like superman while the older stuff doesn't handle obstructions to well. This would be the first thing I would think of.

Next I would consider the 'distance' the wifi has to be thrown along with the wireless technology being used. This sort of goes with above and is a reason why I stated it first.

Do you know what wireless technology you are using? b, g, or n?
