Hi there, I'm new here but have read threads here in the past. I signed up because I'm having a major issue with my internet connection and I work from home so it's a huge problem. I did read the threads with similar issues before posting this, but none of them were the same as my problem so I am posting my own thread.

I called my provider, but they can't get a guy in to look until Aug.19 so I was thinking I would try and see if there was something else I could do in the meantime.

My computer is a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3200+ with 2.20 GHz, 960 MB of RAM. I am running Windows XP Home Ediditon with service pack 3.

Basically what's going on is, my internet keeps dropping off. First the online button goes off, then the send, then recieve, and then for a little bit it tries to come back on. I haven't been able to pinpoint it to anything in particular like downloading something, etc. It is very random, but is happening every couple minutes if not seconds.

I will try to go to a site, open yahoo, whatever... and all of a sudden it just gets extremely slow, then a few seconds later the lights on the modem go out.

One thing I noticed in my network connections from the control panel is I have 3 different connections. One is Local Area Connection 1 (which is obviously what I am used to seeing) The other one is Local Area Connection 2 Microsoft TV/Video Connection, and the other one is 1394 Connection.

Things I have tried are, different coax cables, eliminating a splitter I was using, unplugging the power from the modem for 30 seconds and replugging it in, disabling the 1394 Connection, and screaming profanities at the computer.. none have helped.

I'm not sure if I gave enough information, but would really appreciate some help. Thanks so much in advance.

Hey there, thanks so much for replying. I feel like an idiot... it was actually the providers problem and they are supposed to be fixing it over the next few days.

So yeah... I'm just a computer dumb chick lol but thanks for the response.
