Hi all and thanks in advance for anyone who can solve this for me.

PC is an RM all in one system, windows XP

    Motherboard = ASUS P5LD2 TVM

    Intel celeron D 347

    Intel GMA 950 onboard graphics

Anything else you need to know just ask.

Anyway, this is a backup PC to my more mainstream home PC, and was obtained from a school I do work for as they had updated their set up and were throwing them out.

So, I wiped the system and installed a copy of windows XP onto it, installed all the drivers I could think of, for the use this PC is going to be for.
Everything is fine apart from the Ethernet adapter/controller.

No matter what I try to install, it keeps saying there is no ethernet controller fitted to this PC.

I have tried Everest Ultimate, and that says there is a Realtek RTL8169/8110 Gb ethernet adapter.
I have downloaded countless different drivers that are listed for this part, but same problem, when it starts installing, it says, no controller etc etc.

I have tried "Driverboost Pro setup" "Intel-Lan-v10160-xp" Intel chipset installation utility" as well as the afore mentioned supposed drivers only packages.

I know it is probably something simple (apart from me) but im damned if I can find it.

Call me what you like, but this is starting to do my head in now.

Thanks ahead of hoping for sorting this.

    Hello,
In your BIOS is a section called 'Advanced'. Under that is 'Onboard Devices Configuration'. Check to see if 'Onboard LAN' is enabled or disabled.

Welcome aboard, since you have done just about everything, why not buy a $3 PCI NIC card and use that instead? I had a failure on my old ASUS mobo and that's what I did, no need for drivers either as XP's legacy drivers are used. Maybe someone knows where to go get it but failing that, I'd get the card.

EDIT: I see tgell came up with a good possible solution. I'm not sure why the school would disable it, but who cares, as long as it works.

Lan controller is enabled, Lan boot rom is enabled and 1394 controller is enabled.

Thats my next port of call if I cant sort it this way.

Do you have any yellow question mark in device manager ? :wave

Yes, 3 of them, one for the ethernet and two for unknown items, all under the same section.

It looks just like mine. Any PCI NIC will fit and work on any board with a PCI slot.

This is very useful step to solve your driver problem

    Start
    Control Panel
    Computer Manager
    Device Manager
right click in yellow question mark
    Properties
Details ( scroll down bar menu selecting Hardware Ids )
Copy here all details of the code !! :wave

    Hi

Generally these are OEM vendor boards made my ASUS for other PC makers such as HP/DELL etc so what model is your PC if at all its a OEM made one?

Could also as you are suing XP run the below as written and attach the log in a text file.

    @falconattack,
I may be mistaken but I think that driver is for Win7

I have gone to the link page, and every driver so far is saying it is for windows vista.
The list says they cover all OS systems, but each one ive used has come up with the above.
There is a list of about 20, and ive down loaded and unpacked and tried to install 8 so far, all vista.

    Any ideas?

I would try the following if falconattack's link does not work.

    http://152.104.125.41/downloads/dow...n=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

Download the WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver 325Kb.

Unzip the file in an admin account. Open Device Manager and right click your Network adapter and select Properties. Click on the Driver tab and then click on Update Driver. Point it to the inf file in the folder that was unzipped.
