Losing LAN connection

I have just installed DSL at my home. This is ADSL I believe, single line, noise filters for phones, modem and phones can be used at same time. Modem is a Paradyne 6310-A4-200, Router is Linksys BEF SR41. PC's are winXP.

I have one PC hooked up and runnig fine, until last night. While playing a casino game S I E R R A, Hoyle Casino 2003, Version 1.0.0.0. After about an hour I exited the program and returned to Windows. I noticed that the network Icon in the system tray showed the connection was open. When bringing up IE6 I was not able to connect to any sites. I poered the machine down and back up. Icon still showed that the LAN connection was unplugged. I powered the PC back down, powered both the modem and router down by disconnecting power. Powered the Router back up, followed by the modem, and then the PC. The modem and router lights show things are talking. Have a Ethernet light, transaction talking at start up and line light on router. I still show the LAN connection open on PC.

Is there any troubleshooting freeware out there that is recommended to see why this dropped or other ideas?

I have a seperate thread on a cable issue but thought this would be a new thread as it is a different problem that "should" not be related to the cable as I am not using that cable at this time.

There is no Magic software, you need first to understand how Network and Start helping you works otherwise it is hard to even start helping.

Do you know how to connect to the Router interface and check whether your computers are “talking” to the Router? Do they have acquired an IP correctly? Is the Router have a working external IP.
