    I concur...

I had thought I had stated a similiar statement, but am unable to locate said post.

I surely desire our silent members not folding to awaken :strongso we may prevail.

Future Predictions from various sites that I have seen are not showing that guys. It seems that at our present rate we seem to hold our own, which is not great either. However I totally agree with you both, that we have to get the "Old" folders back cranking out the WU's. The new folders numbers have gone up, but alas the old folders numbers have fallen dramatically.

Our lead folder mccalls numbers are down from 165,000 to 105,000 @ month, now spoirer numbers on the other hand have gone from 7,000 to over 160,000 @ month Way to go spoirer

Our Points Per Month(PPM's) have been climbing quite nicely, and at a steady rate

    http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd208/BCGray/ScreenHunter_25Oct051329.gif

And I thought we might break the 1,000,000 mark this month, but the way it is going that does not look likely.

Now comes the big question.........The newbies are doing fantastic and the Oldies are falling behind...............So what suggestions do all of you have to get the Oldies back folding again?????? I have mentioned a "Vanity Badge" for all "Active" Folders to C.P. and he is going to look into doing that

    http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd208/BCGray/MajorGeeksactivefoldericon.gif

Another thought for all the Family Folders with kids/parents that have PlayStation 3's is to get them to get their PP3's folding for the team. The numbers those little suckers put out is impressive

Any other ideas guys & gals, I'll try anything with in reason to get the Major climbing the charts faster, just need your help and suggestions gang.

Ps. Oh and noprob here is where your previous comment isLOL http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1042555&postcount=8

Great Project Mimsy, and yea if you could let us know maybe we could get more PS3's that are owned by Major Geek members online cranking out the WU's

Just a suggestion. Where I fold at, you get an icon when you complete a WU for our team and it is verified. Now if you are in the top 10, or stand out as a folding freak, you get an additional gold icon added. The gold gear symbol I got from my team makes me always look for ways to get more folding done. A link to your folding section can be put in your sig also, just for free advertising.

The icons are like a badge, and might help you a little. The sig link just spreads the word.

Keep it up MajorGeeks! If all goes as planned, I will have to kick one CPU or core over to the MajorGeeks site.

I suggested a 'Vanity Badge' (as you call it! lol!) quite some time ago :(

Vanity badge! What the heck are you talking about. It is not vanity...

Well, yes, acutally vanity badge is a great description. But if folks see it and wonder and ask, it is advertising in your site for potential folders.

Did not know you had suggested it Nitrowing.

    Happy folding. :D

I guess if you are doing something worthwhile that has no (immediate) benefit to yourself, you have the right to be proud.

I am one (of many it appears) who has suggested some type of 'visual recognition', my reasoning is the same as most others i would imagine, for advertising purposes

A site of this type with this many members should have more than this many active folders.

Gotta get the word out somehow

People jump in and out over time. Few stick with it. I don't know why. It's good that there is more than 1 IMHO.

BTW a good way to get points is the old - "Yeah, I'll fix your machine. But, youhave to run my folding client."

    Works everytime. ;)

I also noticed that when we started there was less than 10,000 teams. Just a couple of months ago there was about 60,000 teams. Now there is over 80,000 teams. So really, as a percentage, we are gaining. (Jim Logic)

Eventually I'll have to run as fast as I can just to stand still, but haven't hit there yet. An early goal was to reach the top 100, now it's the top 50.

Yea your right C.P. we tend to forget that "Folding' is gaining in popularity as more and more people realize it is an easy and great thing to do to advice Science.

Hear Yea Bill, the further up the chart you go, the slower your upward movements are. I have to get 8,000 points just to go up one more place notch.....It's a conspiracy I tell yeaLOLLOL

So I wonder if they'll ever hit a point where their done? Given the complexity of the subject, it's gonna take a long while, maybe never. After all the simple jobs are done come the really complex ones. Say about a month per work unit, with a major emphasis on machine specs?

Some of the projects take years Bill, and all we can help with really is to crunch the "Test" numbers. For the results to be finalized in most projects they have to run the final simulation on there own, and have it verified.

Where we really help is in the preliminary research area, where "Raw" computing power is needed to test out protein folding and unfolding theories. From those results they can usually access MainFrame time to complete and verify results.

Least that is the way some of the folks at Stanford expressed it to me.

8,000 points is nothing BCGray. Geez, I gotta get 73,000 points for the next slot, and I am fighting like crazy not to get knocked out of the top 10 of my team... Lots of fun though, and when I get passed, it is really a good thing.

Hey Freddie you'll get absolutely no sympathy from me Bro, you live up there in that rarified air of the PimpRig(thats our Fred's Home team), well us poor grunts slave away down here in the swamps. Betcha you guys eat cake too:p:neenerLOLLOL

BCGray, there is cake? Where is it?:D You would laugh if you saw my little 'farm' in my single wide home... Too busy trying to find new borgs to eat cake...

3 laptops (2 are temporary), a dual core AMD 4200, and a socket A off in the spare bedroom. Hmm, 2 laptop cooler pads, two Thermaltake SCREAMING heatsink fans... Yeah, I am single... Can't imagine why?

The odd part is the electricity bill, runs around $100 year round. :p And my house is cool in the summer, and well, I overclock more in the winter, so it is cold then, but I am not shy about burning some watts... I have watched them read the meter, ehh who knows.

If you want points you need to build and borg. But if you are doing 100 PPD or 20K points a day, in the end, all the points go to the same cause.

Keep it up Team MajorGeeks, you are doing great!
