lost administrators password

i have lost the password to my administrator acc and stuck having to use a highly restricted acc is there a way to retreive the password for free?:confused

(idk if this is in the right place)

It's a boot CD (or floppy depending on your circumstances) that's Linux based (I think) that will allow you to reset the Admin password to a password of your choice, or just blank it out (recommended). Be sure to read the full 'how-to' and/or the FAQs before starting the project. You'll need to be able to create a bootable CD (or floppy) in order to do the deed. I have personally used it for XP and Vista; I think it works for Win2000 also.

thnx guys but im trying to avoid reseting the password (long story) but i see where ur going with this and tyvm for any other help

 

lol naw its more of a case of i use that password for many things and reseting it would only add to the confusion (curse bad memory)

Can you get the password from one of these other sources, since they are the same as your admin login?

 

i forgot the password in general so it wouldnt help me any sence i forgot it it basicly paralyzed my abilitys

 

problem still persist and system is starting to run like crap sense the privliges are so restricted i cant run any real maintnence

 

o joy i guess ill just have to deal with it or ill reformat not sure which o well thnx for the help everyone mod plz close

the "tutorial" is a bit old but i've had success with it,

as tim says '........reformat and reinstall' - if you go this way then what have you got to loose with knoppix

 

lol whoops i thought i specified in first post my bad its actualy a freinds sons computer i told them id help them fix it i originaly set it up so the administrator was in my name and pass so if i needed to i could maintnence it but forgetting the password was not part of the plan
