    OP: Win 7
    Search: Google

Net surfing. Closed site window, returned to Google. All bookmarks, library , history missing. Just the main Google (home?) page comes up.
    Cuing "Show bookmarks" accomplishes nothing.
Unsorted bookmarks has a very abbreviated list.
    I do something wrong?
    Is this list retrievable?
    Tnx

    Hi

I take it you are using Chrome as the browser?

Best bet is look in one of these locations for your bookmarks (both are hidden so un-hide files and folders
    C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
    C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default)

search for bookmarks.bak and copy this file as a backup to your desktop, then rename the original bookmarks.bak file to just bookmarks.

Outside chance is you can open the folder location as above then on a blank space in the folder right click > properties > click the Previous versions tab and go back a day and look for the bookmarks file and recover it, you can right click this file and choose open with Notepad to check the contents, but dont tick the "always open" option.

    Using Google, not Chrome.

Can you elaborate on that a little more as to which part of Google are you saving bookmarks in?
Which browser do you use to get to Google?

Bookmarks are in a group of icons or symbols in upper right of page (Bookmark page, show bookmarks, save to pocket, etc)
    Brows4ser is Firefox

    Hi

Thanks for the info on the browser you are using and as Firefox by default (if setting has not been changed) saves your bookmarks in a backup file so you can use this to recover the last dated one https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them

For reference they are generally located in this folder and either in the address bar of an Explorer folder or from Windows Search box type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and hit enter and you should see a folder with random numbers/letters then .default, open that and then there is a folder named bookmarkbackups but the steps in the link above will recover and import the backup of your bookmarks, settings etc

Encountered additional problem (posted separately). Closed all open programs, rebooted computer through Windows.
Bookmarks, et all, came back up with reboot.
    Thanks all, for intended assistance.
