lost cd drives

lost both of my cd rom drives device manager showed them wiyh problems with drivers downloaded new driver but it didnt help and of course cd would not work did a system restore and it seems to have fixed the problem, was that the correct action or should i have tried other things first ?

 

don't know what system you have but in windows go to device manager and remove the ones with the yellow question mark , shut down your computer and restart the system should find them and install the drivers for you

 

Me being a bit of a geek, i probably would of done some research into the problem, however you cant beat System Restore

so to answer your question you did the right thing and solved your problem, if however this problem occurs again and you get curious to whats causing it post back and well try and help you out

 

lost drives again been having problems with media player could there be any relation ?

 

also uninstalled and shut down when restarted nothing changed still yellow marks over both drives in device manager
