Lost Computer Login Info

Using a HP 8460p with Windows 10. Grandson borrowed my laptop and he just returned it. It has been so long that neither one of us can remember the windows password. Do not have a password recovery disk/usb. Is there a free software I can use in order to locate it or reset it. Or can you point me to a thread. I have searched here but can’t seem to find what I need. Thank you in advance because I know this has been asked multiple times.

Sorry. I didn't get a chance to use the software. I just went ahead and put in a fresh install of Windows and went on from there because there was nothing important on the computer worth saving.

 

Best solution, really,as long as you do not have anything you needed to recover ,- sometimes it's quicker, despite all the updates.

 

not actually, you have to make bootable disk, spend time on installation, and set up the apps. It could take hours to do this but the computer can be unlocked within 10-20 minutes.
