lost desktop

    HELP! I am new to this. My cmputer has been hijacked or taken by aliens! When I bootup and then click on my user name, I get a message that says explorer.exe failed to initalize properly (0x0000022). Click ok to contiue. Then I have no desktop and I have to get to the task manager to get to firefox. I can get to ie because i get the same message as above. I have tried to download and run the hijack this and ccleaner and panda active scan, but they will not install completely some of the .dll files will not install and then the programs will not run properly. HELP this is all way over my head. If I have the instructions written out for me I can follow them but I am at my wits end. Thanks in advance.
