I have multiple devices on my internet connection. This one (iPad), my wife's iPad, several Rokus, etc. While not always fast, it has always worked. My desktop computer (Win 8.1) has been connected to this system literally for years via an ethernet cable. Now, all of a sudden, it is not. It sees the modem and connects to it either thru the ethernet connection or the wifi connection, but doesn't go through to the internet. Yesterday it did, now it doesn't. I have a hotspot I got for emergencies or mobile use and the same thing happens with it. Everything links to it and goes through to the internet EXCEPT the desktop. In every instance, after it makes the connection, it says "limited." What could be causing this?

    Try this:
Right click the far left bottom windows tile icon and choose 'Command Prompt (ADMIN)' (it may show as 'Windows PowerShell (ADMIN)')
Type or copy and paste these commands:
    ipconfig/release then press enter,
    ipconfig/renew then press enter,
netsh winsock reset then press enter.
    Restart your computer

    Max,
That worked! Thank you so much. I'm using the computer in question right now.
