lost my folders and files in them

hi,

i recently re installed windows on my system, and while i was tuning it up with various software (zone alarm, tweak xp, ad-aware etc.) something weird happened.

i have 4 hdd in my system, and while running a regitry defreg with tweaknow powerpack 2006, i was moving my music files from one hdd to another (neither of which contained windows on them) at a certain point the file moving haulted since there was an error reading one of the files
at which point i looked around through the hhd from which i was moving the files, and found out that a greater part of the folders and files had scrambled symbol , that were unreadable, freaky stuff, i didnt know what to do but it seemed like half the hdd has gone to hell

at asecond restart of the system, windows' xp consistency check scanned that hdd and recovered most but not all files/folders

i have tried to make windows scan the hdd again but didnt know with what options, i have tried CHKDSK, and SCANDISK (with a surface scan which showed a bad sector yet found nothing wrong) in DOS, i tried error-checking in WindowsXP and nortons Disk Doctor, all in vain, no errors found and nothing resolved. i have also tried using the scandisk in windows ME (since i have a dual-boot system) and the computer freezes everytime i try to scan the hdd.

i have tried windows restore, and the tweknows registry restore to the time before it all went crazy. nothing helped a good number of my folders have proper names for the folders but they cannot be opened they appear as unknown file types all with 32kb size

now if some one could help me restore those folders and files withing them, it would be absolutely great, i have no real idea of what has caused this, this is first time ive ever seen this, please help

I accidentally reformatted my storage drive one day while re-installing windows - I used a nifty little program called Easy Recovery Pro that recovered all my files from the formatted drive. Highly recommend using it.

 

my friend has already suggested to me the recovery tool, and i have been trying to retreive the data, yet all the folders that windows changed to unknown file types with 32kb size, have no traces of the files in the folders what so ever, which is weird

im gonna keep trying with different scans to see if those files show up

HELP!! lost my folders and files in them

HELP! does anybody know what is wrong with my windows?
today i turn on my pc and a consistency scan occurs, (for no reason computer was turned off properly) and the scan is only scanning one hdd,
and i watch as windows consistency check restores some orphaned files.

when all is done, i check those files, and GREAT! third of my music collection (the files that were restored by windows, which worked before) has now been corrupted, *$%#!!!!

im afraid to restart my computer fearing that another file will byte the dust
help! PLEASE
