Lost my Producr Key Pre-install!! Help!!

I *cannot find* my W98SE Manual, so haven't got the product key...

What are my options? What can I do?

I have a blank formatted disc i want to load Windows onto.

 

Not to contradict Major Attitude, but, if I understand your problem correctly, you will not be able to use the recommended software until after you have installed windows, which I don't believe you can do without the product key.

I've never had to do this, so I'm not exactly sure how to go about it, but I'm told that you can contact microsoft to find out lost windows keys.

 

Or if one is lucky, there may be a sticker on the side of the case with this product key.

But, since 98se is no longer supported with MS...What is one to do?

 

What are you trying to do? It is unclear to me at this point. Do you want to install W98SE? Copy it?

 

hmm I thought it was more of the case that he already had win98 on one computer and wanted to instal it on another one which would violate the EULA anyway I think

Yes, exactly right. I do have the manual but it has 'vanished'... v frustrating.

So yes, I formatted the disk BEFORE making sure I had the key.

OK - that is interesting cos I do possibly have older installs of the same disk on other HDs which have not been formatted....
If I put one o fthose HDs that in this machine, can I get the product key that way???

Halo - I see you are a Sesame St fan too!

 

As its windows 98 involved here i'd try either the second or third links first, as the first one requires the .net fx 2.0 which I doubt you will have on there.

 

NP, Im thinking of a 'lite' version anyway with basic functionality but not needing .net as this product key thing seems to be a recurring issue and kft supports more software than the others which don't seem to be updated as regularily.
