Lost Network adaptor and local area connection

I can no longer connect to the internet and acsses my networked computers. However the other computers can use internet and use network. When I look in Network connections, No local area connection is listed or a netwok adaptor. If you look in device manager there is no listing for network adaptors, unless you click on hidden devices. When this problem occured it also made my cd/dvd rom drives dissapear. I am using a wireless netgear router. Please help

 

It would very nice if you would provide more info about the "Lost" device.
