Lost on accessing windows xp home

I got a laptop from my motherinlaw which was her late husbands with no disk and no admin password.
How do i get past the password to reset or delete.
I tryed to reboot in safemode with no sucess.

If you boot in Safe mode and try to log in as Administrator, try pressing the Escape key when prompted for the password - it may accept that and let you log on.

if you don't mind burning a CD i would recommend trinity rescue kit it has a password reset which works wonder
