lost OS

    :cry, i wiped out my os and recovery system on my HP running XP, used killdisk program, apparently clk on wrong thing wiping everything, dummy me, now the poblem, bought the computer used, have no disc for the computer, i d make a floppy startup disk, but can't load anything from the disks i have, i have a list of disk but, i keep getting an error when i try to use "C" drive, which reads media disc error, (can go from "A" to "C" with start up disc). can anyone help me, what do I have to do to get an OS.

    Hi

    If you didnt have a backup of the recovery partition and have wiped it as you say then only option is to contact HP and ask for a recovery CD for your model PC or buy a retail version of the OS you prefer and install that (but dependent on what HP model PC you have and if drivers are available for that model and OS)

    Please expand on this as I dont know what you mean?


    Do you have a Windows XP Cd at all or recovery CD? if not then the earlier comment covers this and you will need one to reinstall XP, sadly this is likely to cost you as they are not free.


    Option is linux and the likes of Kubuntu as an alternative OS.
