I use to have some error where on Ventrilo my mic' would sound like a helicopter and I had to talk over it (it wasn't the mic' because I bought a new and the same thing happened). I tried installing some driver but it made me lose sound all together. In device manager 2 things called ? Multimedia Audio Controler and ? SM Bus Controller are there and I can't update or install the drivers when I click on next and try it do it from the Wizard. I have an ASUS CRW 4824A and an Intel Pentium, I also have Windows XP Pro B. I can't do a system restore because I lost my sound before I reformatted my C Drive and installed XP.

    Help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,what are you using the mic for,Yahoo messenger,I've heard that noise before only in Yahoo. I know some guy that fixed his by uninstalling yahoo messenger, and also deleting the registry keys for yahoo ,,, then doing a new install of messenger. Hope this helps, don't know why you lost your sound.
