Lost standby mode

Hello,

Two weeks ago I restored my eMachines W3506 with Windows XP. All is working OK except I've lost the "standby" option when I click shut down. It's there, but grayed out. Any ideas how I can get it back?

I had exactly the same thing happen to me! Have a look at my post:http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=232144 . It turned out to be outdated drivers, once I had updated my drivers I got Standby back. Hope this helps?

 

I checked device manager and there are yellow ! marks on two devices. One is called the SM Bus controller, the other is Video Controller (VGA compatible). I don't know what these are, are they for video games? When I try to update these drivers, it prompts me to insert a disk (?)

And I also checked and it does have ACPI.
Also, I've attached an Everest report.

I found the emachines page but when I tried to install the drivers I kept getting error messages. But, I found a driver on amd.com, installed it and, success! The standby mode is back.
