Running windows XP...when I came off the internet to my desktop the taskbar was nowhere to be seen; checked all edges of screen, it's not hiding out there. I'm frantic!

Do a Ctl-Alt-Del and see if Explorer.exe is running.

Did Ctrl-Alt-Del; explorer .exe is not running, just aol. Is that good or bad?

Did you get this worked out?

I guess I have to say it worked itself out; touched or clicked something on my desktop and the taskbar appeared on the right side of the screen in the vertical position. Some times I swear there is a God of mischief who lives in my computer! Thank you Brownizs for your suggestion; I went back to Task Manager and looked under the correct heading; explorer.exe was there along with 40 other listings under processes. Is there a master list somewhere that would let me know if they are all needed; I'd like to delete those that aren't. Thanks again for your input, both of you!
