Hello everybody, I am having a frustrating problem getting all the computers at my home to see each other so we can share files. All my computers are able to connect to our linksys wireless N router just fine and file share between each other. After my windows XP computer was malware bombed, I did the suggested procedure for malware removal, and used combofix as one of the steps. As others have experienced, this knocked out my internet, and the usual steps to get it to work again did not work. I tried a solution suggested over the internet that worked for somebody, where I downloaded a file and it updated part of my registry - I believe that is what now allows me to connect to the internet. However, I believe it was combofix/my solution to fix my internet that caused me problems.

    My set up at home:
1 PC - Windows XP (Can only see itself on View Workgroup Computers)
1 Mac laptop w/ Lion (Can only see my Windows 7 PC, windows 7 PC cannot see the mac)
1 PC Windows 7 (Can be seen by Mac but cannot see any other computer)

Now, all these computers were able to see each other and share with each other just fine until something happened - whatever the cause was

    Steps I have taken:
    1. I have checked to ensure that my workgroup name is constant among all computers
    2. I have disabled IPv6
    3. I have disabled UPnP
    4. I have disabled and removed all firewalls installed, including windows firewall.
    5. I have enabled NetBIOS over all TCP/IP

None of these solutions have worked. I am able to ping any computer I want to and I receive a ping response back, but I still have had no avail.

I hope that there are solutions available.

    Thank you

Wow I have to say, I was ready to come back here and ask whether you needed any log files seeing as how I didn't think some automated solution would work.

But after restarting my computer, I could see everybody. This worked fantastically and was extremely easily.

By the way, assuming that that was the only problem, should I re-enable some of the things I disabled originally, or are none of those really even necessary? I know Linksys told me not to disable UpNp, but they always seem to appeal to a hardware or a microsoft problem whenever they can't figure it out.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a solution. It is humbling to have someone like you respond back. Your site has been amazing to me since I joined.
