    Hey everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone here has an insight to why my cd-rom drive is exceptionally loud. I myself was wondering if the power supply is sending too big of a current to it but I'm not really sure why it's so loud. Every plug is correctly connected and I clean my pc on a regular basis.

I'm not just getting why it's so loud. Any guesses?

Nothing is wrong with your drive, some CD drives are just really, really loud. My friend and I each have a samsung drive that sound like a turbo fan.

No reason most drives are like that.

    Welcome to MG :)

Alright then, I just won't run it while anyone within a 5 mile radius is asleep! :D

If you are desperate, you can buy a drive that claims to be quiet. Such as the ASUS CD-S520/A5, or the Toshiba SD-R5372 (which I know is quiet) if you want a DL DVD burner.

    Thanks for the suggestions pacvan.

It justs so happens that my drive is a Samsung DVD-Rom SD-616T. So if Samsung drives are known for being loud than that would definately explain it.
