low battery warning wrong sound plays

PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN!!!!!!

Hi this is my 1st post ever, I have Compaq r3363ea laptop running xp sp2. Recently my power cable unplugged from the socket and I noticed that the sound that played for low battery warning was wrong, so I checked out my sounds settings but with no problems found there, I started scouring the net.

The workaround (reghack) mentioned in the article does not work, I tried asking microsoft for the hotfix but as usual they passed the buck.

I HATE THE BEEP!!!!!!

This is what I found:

I tried all of this 4 days ago but had no joy and the correct sounds are in the correct folder , Microsoft site says the hotfix for this problem will be sent out with SP3, whilst i dont mind waiting for SP3, I still find the beep an extreme irritation thanks for your input though,

Do you have any other thoughts
