    Hi all,
I am with Virgin media and am using a Netgear WNDR3300 router http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/netgear-rangemax-wndr3300-dual-band-wireless-router-03282879-pdt.html I have a pc which is plugged straight into the router via ethernet and a 2nd PC in the next room and also a new Xbox 360 S console which should pick up the N network frequency. My pc shows that the N network at 60% signal strength and the G network is at 80%. the main issue I have is my Xbox. for some reason it only finds the G network with 4 bars out of 4 strength but is a terrible connection and will disconnect at random times. If I manually search for the N network it will connect to the network but with no bars showing in the strength. These are less than 7 metres away from the router so I am really not sure why the N network is nto being picked up as I was under the impression it was twice as powerful (unless I have been misinformed). I really am not that clued up with it but have opened the 4 ports on the router which are needed to be open for the Xbox following a youtube video.

I was thinking do I need a signal booster but still seems strange that the G network is a lot stronger than the N as the 5ghz frequency is meant to cut out more interference??

Sorry if I have any of this info wrong but I am a bit of a novice with this.

    Thanks for any help.

Would there be any reason why my G network is fairly strong when my N network is weak? i thought the N frequency was stronger cutting out more interference??Surely the G network would pick up more interference?

Yes, the N network should be stronger. I do not know why that could be unless something is wrong with the router or the wireless adapter that is in the computer.

From this review, the router is not a true dual band. So, try to disable the G AP if possible and use the N AP only. Maybe that will help. But, from reading the below reviews, it may be in your best interest to get a better router.

Thanks, This was the idea I came to lastnight. It must be interference between them both. Trouble is i cant find a way to disable the G network.... When i open my networks its also saying that the N network is running on an A channel.is this significant?

I looked at the manual and it does not look like you can disable G. You can try and change the Mode and see if that helps. Also, temporarily disable your SPI firewall if enabled and see if anything changes. Also, is the wireless adapter on your Xbox grey or black?

I would also read through this support page from Xbox. Pay special attention to solution 5.
