    Hi everonye.
I recently went through one of your spyware tutorials and got rid of all the junk on my coumputer. So I do have all the recommended protections, etc. Things have been going great, however my computer has been movig extremely slow as of late. Specifically, the mouse pointer takes a few seconds to respond when I move it, and the fan is continuously running.

Also, I recently got a "low on virtual memory" message, when I only had 2 programs open.

Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Dave

Hi m8!I aint seen the low virtual memory warning since win 98 so I would ask which OS you are running?next how much ram you have,if you dont have too much you can either install more or increase the amount of virtual memory windows can use,the latter option option isnt as simple as it sounds, it will decrease system performance as virtual memory is much slower than hardware memory

    Thanks for the reply.
That message only came up once, but my computer still lags behind regularly.
    I am running Windows XP.
    Thanks!

i had this problem when id play games and it turned out i needed to increase the page file for virtual mem to use more hard drive space so virtual memory wouldnt get low. my problem happened after i upgraded to 2 gigs of ram also.

Virtual memory is actually Hard Drive space.
There are many things that can eat up your pagefile and cause problems.
Viruses, trojans, worms and of course Spyware are my first guesses.

Or, you could just have a hard drive that's loaded with C...R...A....P.
Have you tried cleaning it up and defragging it?

A good place to start is the Disk Cleanup program provided by Microsoft in all versions of Windows XP.

The ultimate hard drive Defrag and re-organization is accomplished by doing a Ghost backup followed by a Ghost Restore. (I do this myself, at least once a week)
During the restore process, all files are re-written to the HD in sequencial order...with NO spaces and NO fragmentation. You'll need either a second partition or a second HD to store the image file on for this operation. Or, write it to DVD's.

The error message you got....should NEVER happen with windows XP, so that means that something is VERY wrong.

Try my suggestions as listed above and let me know how you're doing.

    Good Luck and Happy Holidays,
    DrRoms (the Computer Dr.)

should check your virtual memory settings, to see what they are set at, and how much hard drive space is available.
