Using windows 2000 pro. Installing HP 4000TN PCL6 network printer. I believe install set up LPT1 as a network port accessing the printer on the server and disabled the on-board LPT1 port on my workstation. How do I get my computer to recognize the onboard LPT1 port and disconnect it from the network?

The printer is on the server. So far I have unistalled the printer & the LPT1 port so there are no printers attached to that port. I also disabled the LPT! port in the bios. If I install the HP printer using Add Printers, it puts it on LPT1 even though it is unplugged and it does connect to the server. This is what makes me think that LPT1 is now linked to the network and not recognized as a local port.

The printer is on the server. I have used Add printers & selected network printers and browsed to the printer. After the printer is installed, the computer has assigned it to LPT1. I believe that LPT1 is locked in as a network port and a number of techs have not been able to resolve the issue.
The port and local printer does work when I do a DOS boot. It is only in Window 2000 that it connects to the network.
