    Hello
I have Win 7 x 64with M.S. Office click to run. It appeared on my laptop but not my desktop.
Office 2010 came with my pc and I have a seriel number for it.
I do not know what this new drive is doing on my pc.
If I remove this Click to run, will all of my word docs be affected?
Will I have to go through the process of getting another M.S. Office Student 2010 program again.?
Is it doing any harm in the pc?
    Please advise.
    Thank you
    Peter

The following link leads to an overview of the Q-Drive and Microsoft Office Click-to-Run for Office 2010:

    Yes, I read that link.
I ordered my desk and lap at the same time and basically they are configured the same way. Both have win 7x64.
Only the lap has that 'click to run'.
I am not techy and because I do not understand the literature, I guess I'll just leave it there. I hope it does no harm. i was just thinking of ridding the machine of something I don't need but I do not know if that leads to trouble.

Usually that means it can be installed on one computer. There are exceptions so see how many licenses you have.
I purchased Office 2007 Home and Student edition which gives me three licenses. I can install it on three computers with the serial number included in the box.

Here are directions to uninstall Click to run from your laptop

    >>I am sorry if I misled you with Office. The one on the laop I purchased from a retail store. Both are Office Home and student 2010 and I have two seriel numbers.
I guess I was really asking if it is prudent to remove this one click and if so, would there be a ripple effect regarding my word docs and reactivation.
I read where someone's word docs disappeared when they removed the one click. Another seid the had activation issues.
I don't mean to make a mountain out of...., but if I can remove it without consequence it would be good.
Thank you for the link to remove it if I conclude it is a good thing to do.
What is it for? I read it facilitates downloads but if you keep anthing on there you can only use it there. It sounds like something most people would not want.

    Hello
A strange thing just happened;I was in'Computer' and when I hovered the cursor over the disk for M.S. Office click to run icon, the name changed to local disc Q and when I click properties, it says no used space ,no free space and no bytes anywhere.
Plodr, do you have the same disc on any of your machines?

Uninstall the click to run version, reboot then install the Office that you've purchased.

I had to do this on a friends' new Win 7 computer. A starter version was included (just Word and Excel) but they purchased a full version so I had to uninstall the starter edition, download the full version after I supplied some authentication and install it with the serial number.

    >>Thank you for the link. It proved to be interesting reading yet seems to be an asset for business more tham home unless I did not read it clearly.
Last night I called M.S. who was going to lead me down a long uninstall of Office, seeing I am only a home user with no need for click to run.
I asked why we could not just use add/remove as it appears as an entry by itself under the office entry.
He told me to try and it worked.
The Q is no longer there and all of the Office seems to work. My docs are editable.
Is it true that I can function at no deficit without it as a simple home user not interested in business excellence?
    Or, did I do harm?
    Good to hear from you.

    Hi peter

I don't have Click-to-Run myself so can only try to interpret what I read about it, but it appears to be a way of running Office apps which does not require you to go through the lengthy Office install process but instead loads the apps as you need them from the internet, already fully updated, and into some sort of 'virtual machine' environment, ready to run. It also seems you can have both the installed Office apps and Click-to-Run available simultaneously and they won't clash.

It sounds quite an interesting approach to the way we use applications, and if it's a success might revolutionise the way we use software.

Comment from anyone with direct experience of Click-to-Run would be good!

Yes, David, i think for those who are in the tech world it may be a good concept.
I did not like having it installed as a download.
I try to read what is being installed but do not totally understand the literature at times or simply miss something.
I hope it is not installed again.
Thank goodness it was an entry by itself so it was a simple add/remove. I have read it is quite a bit more lengthy for others.
    Good weekend lad.
