m4u converter

I have just bought a Sandisk Sansa e280.

However it does not play m4u files. these files are ones from itunes and i have around 20gb of music from a friends iPod.

my new mp3 does not play the m4u files and will not let me copy and paste them onto the file.

Does anyone know of a converter that will allow me to convert all of my music, and store the song information so i do not have to re enter it all.

Since m4u files are basically aac, you could try using the last free version of dbpoweramp music converter paired with the right codecs from their site (for the older free version you would go to codec central then to the legacy codecs link). To get the last free version type "last free version" into google and look for the 321.download.com link and go to page 11. Then visit the dbpoweramp site to download the legacy codecs you want to install to it. Its all free so its worth a shot, I use it to convert aac audio files extracted from MKV files into mp3 but I have never had an m4u file on my pc so I can't be sure.

To me an Ipod is just a super expensive mp3 player, I buy the 1-2 gig kind that take aaa or aa batteries and pay only 15-25 dollars for them, and they work great. If they played FLAC I would be in heaven. I have a few backups in storage as well cause I forsee a time when the type that take aa or aaa batteries will be extinct, and you will have to pay to have a new battery installed and they will take time to charge when I can just change batteries in mine and go.

I use total video player personally. It's a good player that it plays most kind of audio file and video file as well as the one you mentioned. I just forgot where I got it but you can just google it.
