What I was saying was more in the vein of download the same image file from the same place twice, and see if both downloads are identically corrupted, or one corrupted and the other not (or differently). If the corruption of the image is identical, then that suggests the file was corrupt before you downloaded it.

As to troubleshooting, the best course is to eliminate variables:

1. Try removing the router from the equation and hooking the PC directly to the modem and see if the problem persists.

2. Find a way, if you can, to eliminate everything else but the modem from the cable connection and see if it clears up.

 

I plugged directly into the cable modem and that didnt help which rules out my router. EVERY file I download is corrputed, I downloaded a patch for a game and it was corrputed.. drivers corrputed, everything I DL.

So its on my computers end, now what I need to find out what is wrong..well I have no idea of finding out what is wrong hence why Im here asking you guys.

By this, I meant everything, not just the router. We had a case a while back where someone's cable connection kept dropping and it was found there was voltage leaking into the line from a TV.

Maybe the first thing to do before anything else would be take your machine to a friend's house and eliminate your internet connection from the scenario altogether.

 

Im positive I dont have a power leak to my modem or router. I downloaded some files at a friends house and the files were still corrupt. And then I downloaded files at my own house on another computer and they extracted just fine un corrputed.

Well it is this computer. Now what?
