My pc is about to die so I got a MacBook pro laptop. I'm not that techhie so I need some help. I've looked around the forum but couldn't find anything that really fit my situation.
I would like to be able to use the internet (I have Comcast) with a wireless router without connecting it to my pc eventually. How can I set this up so I still have free movement with my laptop in the house?

    Thanks:confused

Just set it up to use your wireless connection like before?

If you don't already have a Wi-Fi router, you can add one to your existing Comcast cable modem (you do not need to rent the equipment from Comcast or pay them an install fee).

Check the model reviews on Newegg or Amazon (especially any feedback on setting the unit up using a Mac). Get an "N" speed router (better range and faster speed). A no-frills "N" router ($40 or so) should work fine.

When you set up the router for the first time you'll need to connect the PC with a network (Ethernet) cable. Once done, you'll be wireless.

Follow the setup instructions carefully. If you do not do the steps in the exact order listed the cable modem and router may not play nice with each other.

    Hope this helps. :)
