  1. Hello Geeks,

I was looking around the form and I noticed there isn't a section for Macs. My question is what are some powerful Mac based applications for optimization, cleaning up junk files, etc.. I found a few programs that I use on Windows the are cross compatible but I was wanting some more...

Thanks in advance I appreciate this site and forum very much...

  3. I don't use macs either but I've started a computer mobile repair business which my only competitors are geek squad, one of my clients told me when they looked for a mobile computer service I was the only one they found beside geek squad and they were giving him the run around and that's why I got the job is what he said. I didn't tell him but I didn't know really anything about Macs but I have the aptitude to figure it out which I did and most of it was waiting for processes.

He took it to a Mac specialist and they said he would only get 5 gbs of free space if he reinstalled the OS but his drive was filled with updates that took almost all of his drive because it was 60gb. So it would get stuck because there wasn't enough space to complete the operation in. I just reformatted the drive installed the OS and he had 50gb of free space and he was super happy. He wanted some business cards and to help spread the word about my business. I specialize, to a degree, on Windows. Macs it's foreign territory so I'm trying get some software and a bit of knowledge on how to troubleshoot problems.

    Good for you!
I suggest you try the program in the first link I posted - and let us know.

BTW When you re-install the OS, all the updates have to be re-downloaded and installed.
I would look for software that can delete the downloaded updates (the files) after they have been installed.
All the best with your new venture. :)

  5. The OS download came from the Apple App Store and I went and checked for updates after the installation and there was none

Ok. That's what Microsoft is now doing with Windows 10.
    My Apple/Mac knowledge is zero.

  7. I only know because I went through that process I'm just learning myself so now I can make money off of it outside of that I'll never use a Mac...

You should tell your client to spring for a larger hard drive because the same thing will happen again.

  9. He's waiting for the new mac's to come out in April and yes I did tell him the drive was way too small he knows but he just needs it til April
