Macrium Pro

I use Macrium Free and wanted to try the Pro Version (trial) to use the "redeploy" option ( dissimilar hardware).

I don't see that option when I launch program and click restore.

I used the Free version to restore my PC backup to my new laptop and it worked very well. (both windows pro - 64 bit).

It just didn't copy programs as it did if I used it to restore from PC to PC.

I know I can just reinstall programs from PC to laptop, but thought this might be easier.

 

You're correct. That is not available in the free edition.

As this image was created on your PC did you not run into driver issues when it was restored to your laptop?

I would also expect at some point that you will get a Windows activation problem too, as you can't legally run the same license on two machines.

 

I got no problems with drivers on the laptop and the Control Panel shows it is valid and activated.

 

It would take the update servers some time to detect a duplicate licence, though it may never happen at all of course. Remarkable that there were no driver issues.

 

When I ran the Key Check program, it shows a different key,
than the one from my PC.

The key it shows for the laptop (which I installed from the backup image in May, (from the PC) is the one that shows on the laptop case.
