...running XPsp2 with current Flash Player 8 version. Can I simply intall this new 9.0 over current version? I'm thinking yes.

Setup for 9 said it couldnt find browser plugins location, so I found it in C/ProgramFiles/IE/Plugins and clicked to install it there. It installed a NPSWF32.dll for the new version in that Plugins folder. Add/Remove shows no new Macromedia FP 9 nor do CCleaner and Spybot show new 9 version in the uninstaller lists. Should I have let the setup install new version in C/Windows/System32/Macromedia? Setup message said app may not fully work properly if not installed in the plugins directory. Seems like add/remove should show 9 version just installed. Do I really have new version installed or not?

I installed both 9.0 versions (IE and non-IE) over the top of their respective 8.0 versions without any problems.

The only result I get when attempting to install 9.0 is the NPSWF32.dll placed either in C/Programs/IE/Plugins or C/Windows/System32/Macromedia, depending on where I direct it. My current version 8 remains in place in add/remove programs, uninstaller lists, etc.

does it possible you uninstall the version 8 and install the version 9 alone?

That's what I'll try tonight when back at the home pc...uninstall 8, then try the version 9 installation. Thanks for the posts.
