Mad Catz F.R.E.Q headset buzz during sound unless mic muted.

I just bought this new 7.1 surround headset (Mad Catz F.R.E.Q) and noticed that it would buzz so long as any sound was playing like music for example.

The weird thing is it runs in a pattern. If i start up some music it buzzes quite loud and when i stop the music it till buzz for about 5 seconds more, the buzz would turn into a low whispy sound and then cease.

IF i mute my mic then the buzz goes away and the whisp sound carries on until a while after the music stops.

if i start music with it muted it's only a whisp sound.

The final weird thing if i stop the music without muting and i switch the mic on and off it will buzz-whisp-buzz-whisp-buzz-whisp (after the first ~5 seconds) whisp only and then get silence.

I have no idea what settings to play with. My audio driver is the base one with my mobo which is Realtek HD.

My previous headset didn't have any of these issues.

EDIT: These headphones come with an optional 3.5mm jack which i assume is to allow them to work as basic headphones with no surround or any special features. I tried this and no buzzing whatsoever. Tghis is leading me to think its a problem with the driver or the usb or something. I don't know where to start with troubleshooting this.

 

Delete/ remove this thread etc. I'm sending the headset back for a refund and just going to get something else.

 

When you get your replacement, check your computer grounding. Bad grounding can cause buzzing in mic, speakers, headset, etc.
