i use magic iso as my virtual drive program and for its .uif compatibilities, and i like the context menu list it has except for 1 entry, "extract to" and then lists the current location of the file, which is excessively long if its anywhere besides the root of the drive, ive been trying to remove this single entry, and thoroughly searched through the registry for any strings that have "magic" and all the context menu ones i can find for magiciso dont have separate entries for each action but rather what looks like gibberish to me, entires named "default" with long strings of numbers.
i have little to no experience with the registry but know enough not to screw anything up. if anyone could help me with this i would appreciate it. if need be i can post all the context entries there are for magiciso, just ask cause it would be a pain to do if it wasnt necessary.
as always any help would be appreciated, please and thank you.

When you search through the registry for the string "magic", not everything that is posted will be for magiciso. Anywhere, including long strings that have magic in it will appear, even if it is mixed in with long alphanumeric strings.
That's why everyone is cautioned against editing the registry. You have to look closely to see if it is a key that you want removed. If you aren't sure, let it alone. Better to have a few extra lines in the registry than to remove one line that was essential.

plodr: yes i know this, i want to be sure not to exclude any off named entries, i didnt remove anything i wasnt sure was a context menu entry from magiciso. all of the ones i found i removed and then replaced so its just the same way it was when i started, but all of them removed the entire context menu list, not just one or two items from it.

~Q~: i have magic iso installed, and when right clicking on an iso, or img, or any other disc image, the context menu has a drop down list of magiciso functions, most of them are extractions to different locations, one of which is the current location of the file, listed as the full path name. this is a huge entry and takes up a much larger portion of the screen than i am happy with and would like to remove it. ive been searching through the windows registry for all magiciso context menu entries, but they are all single entries named "default" nothing specific like the "open with" entries are. im asking everyone if they know a way i could remove that single entry from the context menu by altering one of the keys in the registry. really i dont need or use any of the extraction ones, but thats the only one bothering me. i do want to keep magiciso in the context menu though because the "mount to" function is endlessly useful.

I see what you mean now, and i reckon that is gonna be tricky to do, the way i would *try* to go about it is to, try and tweak the code before you install it, but your lookin at some mind numbing stuff, and i havn't even got the time to have a go myself, so i cant even give you any pointers.

    Good luck :)

the shell integration is actually selectable in the options menu, just an enable or disable option, no customizing the entries, so i dont think i would have to tweak any code before installation, just before selecting that option. but still i have absolutely no idea how to do that, perhaps a geekier member could be of some help. :)
