Maintenance/tune Up Software?

    Hi, People.
    Do you believe in using third party Maintenance/tune Up software on your Computer?
    Or strictly Windows own tools?
    Is it necessary to "Clean" Windows 10 Home or Pro/Enterprise?
    What is your opinion, Please Let Us Know?:)

    Cleaning with 3rd party programs causes more harm than good. I read lots of posts where people use these tools and end up with a broken computer.

    Hi @plodr is that also a fact when using only the drive cleaner on Ccleaner, only an example I mean, other drive cleaners also(Wisecare 365,Glary Utilities etc)?

    I don't consider them essential, but I do use them because they save me quite a bit of time doing boring chores. I use Ccleaner and Wisecare 365 and neither has ever caused me any issues at all. I don't use Iobit because I get tired of having to repeatedly refuse to upgrade or install their other software. That's a shame as their products are good imo.

    I might use CCleaner once every 2 or 3 years.
    I "clean as I go".
    1. I remove unwanted programs using Revo Uninstaller. If I try a program and don't like it, I remove it immediately so I don't have useless programs hanging about.
    2. I store files off the computer. After I copy a file for archiving and test that I can open it, I erase not throw trash into the recycle bin.

    I've been running Windows 7 on an 80GB partition for about 10 years. I've used 66 GB in that time. This includes 10 years of Windows updates which probably accounts for a chunk of disk usage.

    Maintenance software is fine but, check the settings.

    Tune-up (optimizing) software you should avoid like the plague.

    Q1) Love 3rd party tools. Maintain a huge collection for each OS.
    Q2) Don't use Windows 10. But I am considering Windows 10 Ameliorated since I hate spyware.

    Read this,.....especially the last paragraph. I wouldn't want my i.p. mixed up with this any at all. Never know which way things will go. There have been cases of creators going after users instead of suppliers when things get out of hand.

    Thanks for the warning. I know the entire story behind it. And if I ever used Win10, it would definitely be the version I would use.

    In my opinion anyone who is that paranoid about their privacy should not use the internet at all. It does nothing to protect its users from Google, Facebook, etc, etc

    Amen to that.
    Also don't use any "loyalty cards" at any retailers. Don't use a credit card. Don't own a smart phone. Don't own a smart tv. And the list goes on because all the companies you deal with, track your purchases, viewing habit, etc. Heaven forbid that you need any long term prescriptions because the prescription plan you use knows all the drugs you are on as well as it being online so a pharmacist can see what you are taking.

    There was no derision. Use the internet and your data will eventually be misused, regardless of which OS or browser you choose to use. Belittling the users here won't get you anywhere at all.
