I'd like to say, I'm sorry. I know Doom3 crashing is a hot topic, and everyone is sick of it! But I got a good one here:

    AMD 2600+ 1 GIG RAM DDR333 (Win2k Pro)
(Slightly Older) GeForce 5200FX Ultra w/256DDR (it was balls to the walls when i bought it.)
    SoundBlaster Audilogy

And of course the game crashes to desktop randomly...now I've done the r_imagesMeg trick (from 20 to 96) which greatly improved gameplay. I've got the latest drivers from Nvidia/Creative. Got DirectX 9.0b. Verified the Page file was 1000meg... Games Settings:

    Medium Quality: 1024x768
    No V-sync or Anti-aliasing
    All others set to yes

Nvidia manger set to: AA OFF, AS filter OFF, V-Sync OFF
Image Setting: High Quality (tired high performance too..same results)

Now the strange part: When I had it set with AA and AS filter (Nvidia manager) it would crash...at totally randm intervals (some 1 min others 1 hour). But killing those settings and up res. (Multi-resource say thats better for performance.) to 1024... cause strange crashes but within 15 or so mins..very strange. My vid card felt very hot a first... so try it diffrent I romoved the side panel and blew a household fan at it...same thing? I'm baffled anyone got ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

heh balls to the walls...funny; anyways your page file is rediculously high; set it to 256mb(minimum and maximum) since you already have a gig of ram; if you have 2 hdds' set it to the 2nd hdd to improve performance. also download dx 9.0c from www.microsoft.com/directx . also opening your case and putting some house fan doesnt help your system at all; im pretty sure it makes it alot worse; disrupting the airflow inside a case can overheat certain critical components like the vid card...does ur card have a heatsink /fan combo? if not you should look for one that fits your card if you want to improve performance and keep it cool. Oh and dont use AS AA FSAA or vsync; your card cant handle that much

Just put the AS and AA and FSAA to Application Preference. The program can make up it's own mind. LoL. ;)
